Before you even look at the college prompts, just start brainstorming by thinking about the topics that are important to you. Once you’ve written a lot, extract the topics that attract you the most. Next, look at the essay topics for the colleges that you’re going to apply to and structure your essay so that it directly answers the prompt. When you have a working draft, give it to a counselor or a teacher so that they can review it. Don’t ask another classmate for advice. Afterwards, edit as much as possible until there are no more grammatical errors.
